Introducing Avis Jolly Ponderosa High School Foundation Board of Director. Avis has a degree in secondary education science from Indiana University. Her early career was spent as a Program Manager at Intel Corporation’s Folsom campus. In 2009 she transitioned into agriculture education with the local non-profit El Dorado County Ag in the Classroom. She recently finished a tenure as its Executive Director and now serves as a board member. She is passionate about supporting her community and has been or is an active member of school site council, PTO, Girl Scouts, El Dorado County 4H, Ponderosa’s Ag Advisory Council, Women’s Fund El Dorado, and more. She is very excited to join the Foundation board and looks forward to serving the students, staff, and community of Ponderosa High School. Avis and her husband, Andy, have a daughter, Allyson, who is a member of the class of 2022 and a son, Alec, who is a student at Pleasant Grove Middle School.
Introducing Diane Williams Ponderosa High School Foundation Board of Director. Diane is a Registered Nurse and has been with UC Davis for 26 years. She has served and continues to serve the community in various volunteer roles as a leader or member of Girl Scouts, Band Boosters, Site Councils, and PTOs. She also enjoys donating her time as an usher at the Harris Center and a first aider at numerous community events. Diane and her husband, Jim, have a daughter, Jenna, class of 2022. Diane has been instrumental in the outreach for new board members as she aspires to continue the legacy the founding Foundation board has established.
Introducing Tracy Pearson Ponderosa High School Foundation Board of Director. Tracy Pearson has been involved in public education all of her adult career. Starting out as a high school French teacher in the 1990’s, she later switched to administration, with past work experiences at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, Lassen Community College, and Heald College. She has currently been the district secretary at Latrobe School District since 2004. Tracy is passionate about supporting students and teachers in the education process and is excited about joining this Foundation. Her daughter, Desiree (class of 2018) is attending UC Santa Barbara and her son, Michael (class of 2020) is a junior at PHS.
Introducing Jila Fishman Ponderosa High School Foundation Board of Director. Jila brings a wealth of experience to the board in this position having served as the Treasurer for the PTOs at Green Valley Elementary School and Pleasant Grove Middle School. She is also currently the Treasurer for local Boy Scout Troop 700. Jila has served as Green Valley Elementary’s Site Council President. Jila and her husband, Joel, have two children: Kira who will begin attending CSU Monterrey Bay fall 2019 and Nathan, Ponderosa Class of 2022.
Introducing Bill Swars Ponderosa High School Foundation Board of Director. Bill has a degree in Electronics and his work experience has been in construction, information technology, and currently a real estate agent and mortgage loan officer. Bill enjoys being on the finance committee at his church, handling the accounting for his daughter’s girls scout troop, coaching sports, and volunteering at several community and outreach programs. Bill is a Ponderosa graduate as well as three of the four children he and his wife Kara have. Bill is passionate about Ponderosa being the best high school and one students desire to attend.
Introducing Kris Fuchs Ponderosa High School Foundation Board of Director. Kris is a portfolio manager with a national banking institution. He has served and continues to serve the community in various volunteer roles, including as an active member Green Valley and Pleasant Grove PTOs running community fundraising and teacher appreciation events. He also has assisted with Pleasant Grove Band Boosters. Kris and his wife, Denese, have a daughter, Lexi, class of 2022. They also have another daughter, Kirstin, at Pleasant Grove Middle School and two Ponderosa alumni. Kris is looking forward to growing the Foundation through welcoming and engaging the community at established and new Foundation events.
Introducing Jolynne Alger Ponderosa High School Foundation Board of Director. Jolynne graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education and had the privilege of teaching in a classroom for many years, along with being an education consultant with FranklinCovey. She has a deep understanding of the needs of students, teachers and administrators. Jolynne, through her work as an education lobbyist, has expertise on how the legislative process interacts with the education system. She has served on many boards which impact youth and education. Jolynne is passionate to do what’s best for students and specializes in networking with others to enhance the lives of children and those who work daily to support kids. Jolynne has 2 children in the classes of 2022 & 2023.
Introducing Andrea Sawyer Ponderosa High School Foundation Board of Director. Andrea has been a teacher and Ponderosa FFA Advisor for the past 6 years, running a program of over 300 students and teaching a variety of courses including Ag Leadership, Agriculture Science, Biology in Sustainable Agriculture, Animal Science and Agriculture Business. Her career working with youth in agriculture began as a workshop presenter during State FFA Convention as a UC Davis Aggie Ambassador, as well as a 4-H leader in Woodland, CA. She also spent a year gaining additional experience as a Galt FFA Advisor and working for the California FFA Association. She is enthusiastic about joining the Foundation Board and serving Ponderosa High School and community members in a different capacity. Andrea and her husband, Jason, have a 12 year old daughter, Faith who has been involved in El Dorado County 4-H for the past couple of years.
